Marketing & Research Intern

San Diego, CA Part-time / Internship Hybrid

We're seeking a motivated Marketing & Research Intern for Summer and Fall 2026 to support content creation, mental health research, and social media at Koppla. This part-time, hybrid internship is ideal for a student who is passionate about mental health, writing, and digital marketing.

About Koppla

Koppla Marketing is a digital marketing agency built exclusively for mental health professionals: therapists, psychologists, counselors, and private practices. We do one thing, and that is helping clinicians get found by the right clients online. That means SEO for therapists, content strategy for behavioral health providers, and local search visibility for mental health practices that are tired of competing on Psychology Today alone. Through KopplaHQ, we build the software that powers that work at scale.

If a practice in Phoenix wants to rank for "trauma therapist near me" and stop losing clients to better-marketed competitors, we're the team they call.

The Role

We're looking for a Marketing & Research Intern to join us part-time for Summer and Fall 2026. You'll support our content and marketing team with mental health research, blog writing, and social media, gaining real experience in a focused, fast-growing niche.

This is a hybrid, flexible role designed to fit around a student schedule. You'll work closely with our content strategists and marketing leads, contributing real work that helps therapists across the country build their online presence and reach people who need care.

Responsibilities

  • Map search intent for mental health keywords across clinical niches: from broad queries like "anxiety therapy near me" to specialty terms covering SEO for trauma therapists, EMDR counselors, and somatic practitioners
  • Support Google Business Profile optimization for therapists, helping practices show up in local Google Map Packs where most therapy searches actually convert
  • Research mental health topics, therapy modalities, and industry trends to fuel blog and content production for mental health SEO campaigns
  • Write and edit blog posts, practice bios, social captions, and short-form content for therapist clients and the Koppla brand
  • Analyze competitor content to help build content marketing strategies for psychologists and counseling centers, identifying gaps we can own
  • Track ranking movement for niche clinical terms and report on what's working for SEO for therapists across different specialties and markets
  • Assist with social media content scheduling and basic community engagement across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Support the team with content calendar maintenance, asset organization, and light administrative tasks

What You'll Learn

The content you write gets published. The keyword research you do goes into real client campaigns. By the end of this internship, you'll have built something you can actually show, inside a niche that most marketing programs don't teach.

  • Why mental health SEO is its own specialty: someone searching for a therapist is making a very different decision than someone buying a product or hiring a contractor, and the keywords, content, and trust signals that work for a private practice reflect that
  • How to audit and execute local SEO for therapists, from Google Business Profile setup through review management and local citation building
  • How niche search volume works in clinical specialties, including why SEO for depression therapists targets different queries than a general "therapist near me" search
  • How Google evaluates E-E-A-T for healthcare content, and how to write in a way that satisfies both search algorithms and a prospective client who is deciding whether to trust you with their mental health
  • How to use Google Search Console and GA4 to measure content performance and prioritize what to work on next

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field
  • Strong writing skills: you can write clearly, empathetically, and adapt tone for different audiences
  • Genuine interest in mental health, wellness, or healthcare
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook) and basic content creation
  • Organized and self-directed, comfortable working independently in a hybrid environment
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)

Nice to Have

  • Prior coursework or experience in digital marketing, SEO, or content writing

Compensation

$18 – $21/hr (part-time, approx. 15–20 hours/week)

What We Offer

  • Paid, part-time internship (approx. 15–20 hours/week)
  • Flexible schedule built around your academic calendar
  • Hybrid, with option for fully remote or in-office work in San Diego
  • Academic credit coordination available upon request
  • Mentorship from experienced digital marketers in the mental health space
  • Real portfolio-building work. Your content will be published and live
  • A collaborative, mission-driven team that takes your growth seriously
